Hi people, new here, first post.

I've had a good search around and haven't been able to find anything to help so i have to ask you guys. Im running a G4 powermac dual 1.25 ghz with the nvidea pro 9000 (I think thats right), with dual displays. OS 10.3.5.

Quite simply i want to connect my mac to my TV in any way possible, so that I can watch my Collection of AVIs on a larger screen, and in bed!

I have had a look around and cannot find any good souces of info on this, i dont mind what i need to do or buy to achieve it, but there must be a way.

I reall appreciate any help chaps, thanks

It's an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, not nVidia.
As far as I know, there is no composite video or S-video out on that card. So no way to connect it to a TV.

So what kind of avi's are you watching that you feel the need to watch them in bed then? ;)
Pity there's no porn smiley...

I'll ignore the porn post, (who says you have to watch porn in bed anyway)

but in regards to the scan converter, i had a look but could'nt see how it would work, could some one explain it a bit better for me. i want to be able to watch movies etc that i have on AV format from my bed like a lazy slob instead of my crap chair at my desk which gives me a sore butt. I have heard that some DVD players play avi, but i've only got a unchipped ps2 and xbox

Well, if I understood well, the scan-converter takes the VGA signals and converts them into S-Video and Composite Video signals. Most TVs do have a composite input, lots of modern TVs also offer S-Video.
If your TV only has a SCART (aka EuroAV) connector, you can connect it with the SCART-to-composite adaptor that came with your Xbox.
It is possible to modify an Xbox to play AVI, but it's not an easy task, and needs some serious skills.

The easiest way would certainly be to buy a DivX capable DVD-player. For the price of the scan-converter, maybe a few more bucks, you can get a DivX-DVD-Player.

Hmm, i think im convinced that it might be better to get a DivX-DVD-Player. Can anyone reccommend a good one, there seems to be so many out there. Will they play AVI, MPEG, DIVX etc and backed up DVD's?? or can someone point me in the direction of some useful info on the topic.

Thanks

I have a Philips DVD 737, it plays DVD, VCD, SVCD, DivX, 3ivX, MPEG, MP3 and JPEG...and looks very nice ;) (silver slim line housing, with mirrored front).
