If it is a non-apple router than you will probably have to install the software that came with it and do it from their.

No no no... No extra software needed... It depends on the Router brand... but Netgear (and most others) the default IP address is 192.168.1.1

So....

Open your web browser... in the URL field type in 192.168.1.1 press enter.

The default Username and Password is (IIRC)
admin
password

or

Admin

<leave password blank>

Just try a few

You will then be in the Router settings page... click wireless settings, or something similar (again.. it depends on the brand)... and set up an encrypted network.

**use WPA-PSK
