Back in 2005 I got my first DSLR: a Digital Rebel XT. I was at a neighbor's house party and was showing it off. The camera was in full auto mode and I was showing how quickly it would snap off shots. I literally just pointed it out into the hallway where some of the kids were standing and snapped 3 photos without looking - no sighting through the view finder. My head was actually turned away from the shot.

2 of the 3 were completely blurred and off frame. Then there was this shot:

I've taken over 12K photos with my DSLR's over the last 3.5 years yet this is still one of my favorites because it was completely random. I know I didn't have the talent to stage it.

Thanks! The girls are twins. Not identical but to this day I cannot tell them apart.

For a second there I thought she was looking in a mirror ;P

It's a great shot. She looks a bit like a younger Elisabeth Moss

Nice indeed. Looks like a photo you'd see on a stock photo website. :)

Thanks for the nice comments! The reason I found the photo was because I was importing my photo collection into iPhoto and ran across it. Just to give you a sense for the randomness of the photo, here was the shot taken right before it:

As I recall the person at the party was complaining about their PnS camera recycle time. I whipped up the camera and took the above shot and then just snapped the shutter again without looking for the shot from the first post in this thread.

So yes, I can take shots like this without even trying! O:) It's when I try that the shots aren't that great.
