Are you crazy? It was too expensive to go putting it on my camera and taking pictures with it O:)

I'm really waiting for it to warm up. I live 15 minutes from a road course that does motorcycle track days nearly every weekend.

In that case... at least put a frame around it! ;)

Or pictures of it in a bank vault.

I have a couple from last night, but they're fairly crappy. I bought a used UV filter that was in a lot worse condition than B&H claimed, suprising for them, and it helped my some fuzzy pics. It's definitely not staying on there. I just have to get around to purchasing another one eventually. The lens is weathersealed other than that.

I'll probably be buying more goodies tomorrow.

Man this is an expensive and addicting hobby.

Congrats. Great Lens. Never put a UV filter on these super lenses. It defeats the purpose for which you bought it.

A Lens hood will protect the lens from any damage much better than the commonly dished out advise in favour of protecting the front element with a UV filter.

Have you thought of buying a diopter like 500D which will enable you to shoot reasonably big bugs like Butterflies, Dragonflies etc with increased magnification ?

I'm going to get a B+W pro SMC UV for it for those days that I need it. I'll be shooting motorsport and probably beach photos and such. It'll be worth it to protect the front element when I'm in harsh conditions like that. For normal shooting and if I break it out for the modeling photos, it's not something I'm worried about.

I'm not really into macro photography, so I don't need anything like that. My photography has really swung towards people, more so than I ever imagined.

Congratulations. It is one awesome lens. You should add the 1.4x teleconverter to your kit. I use it frequently with my 70-200 2.8IS when out at the track.

Here are a few shots from the Monterrey Historics last year to hopefully add some inspiration.

One of the Ama stops is at Summit Point. I'm definitely going to make sure I make that one. And I like a little over an hour out from the heart of DC and Baltimore. Candid shots should be a bit easier to get with this thing.

Summit Point is a great track for spectating and photography. I was there before they renovated; I hear it's been turned into a very modern facility. Should be fun.

I'm waiting on Canon to introduce the new version of the 100-400IS lens. They say it's due this year.

I love that lens. I have the non-IS version on my 20D :)
