I think I have a DVD burner on my G4 because if I go into system preferences it allows me to select "what to do if blank DVD is inserted". So I purchased some DVD+R and when I insert the blank DVD nothing happens. Zip-zip noises and then spits it out. Should I use DVD-R or do I not really have a DVD burner?

Thanks!

Your Mac's Specs
14in MacBook Pro M1 Max 32GB 2TB
Under the blue Apple menu -> About this Mac -> more info -> Disc Burning you should see something like the following:

CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL

Which will let you know the type of media you can use. In my case I can use the following
CD-R, CD-RW
DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL
