Hi There,

I have a LaCie d2 FireWire DVD Burner and for some reason cd's & dvd's wont mount. All that happens when I place a dvd in the drive is a little green light flashes for about 3-4 seconds and then nothing! I've checked I have the up to date firmware and drivers and all seems well.
Below is my Disc Burning system profile:

TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-W162L:

Firmware Revision: LC03
Interconnect: FireWire
Burn Support: Yes (Vendor Supported)
Profile Path: /Library/DiscRecording/DeviceProfiles/LaCie.drprofile
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: No

If anyone can help it would really be appreciated.

Cheers
Dave

When you insert a blank CD: Ask what to do
When you insert a blank DVD: Ask what to do
When you insert a music CD: Open iTunes
When you insert a picture CD: Open iPhoto

Getting desperate now!

Hi rman,

It say's 'There's no disk in the recorder'!
I've just tried it connected to a Mac Mini and it didn't work. I also tried a DVD lens cleaner but I didn't hear it spin!:'(
Any ideas?

Looks like the optical drive is suffering from a fatal disorder. Do your DVD/CD's mount when you use the internal combo/superdrive?

You could try opening it up and seeing if it works without the case. Be very careful with the electrics

Do not look at it from above or closely - the laser could damage your eyes. Also make sure you do not touch the metal casing or the power cables.

is it spinning

I think going inside might well come as a last resort.
I don't think it is spinning, I cant hear anything when I put a disc in.
