scanning with HP 3055 under Leopard

I just hooked up an HP 3055 all-in-one to my Intel Mac Pro running 10.5. The printing, copy, and fax functions work fine, but the thing won't scan; it gives a "waiting for PC" (!) message when the scan button is pressed. Any idea if HP is working on a fix for this, or of any other alternatives (VueScan doesn't support the 3055)?
