I noticed this a few days ago and was waiting for someone to mention it.

Anyways it looks like all Ford Mercury and Lincoln vehicles now have the option to equip Microsoft Sync. Sync is a voice activated service that allows the driver to use voice commands to play songs and make phone calls. Do you think this is a smart move for Ford or not?

My only concern is that it will behave like Vista's speech function. That is, not recognizing half the stuff said to it

I also just noticed this looks alot like the safari logo

Heavens Angels? Maybe a different group than what I thought they were called. It would be rather embarrassing thought thats for sure. And what if you car got a virus? That would be expensive

I uh tried to use the actual name, but when it posted it showed asterisks. I should have thought of calling them Hades' Angels or Angels of the Underworld or PINK PONY Angels. O:) However, I wanted to quickly ensure I wouldn't earn an infraction so I used the first thing that came to mind. (Okay, well, the second thing. The first thing would have been unpublishable too.)

i think it's a good move for ford. chrysler has the 'mygig' system and are working with sirius to deliver tv to vehicles, and other companies have various multimedia options.

ford could do worse that to have a system that has such huge name recognition. and of course it would seem to negate one of microsoft's worst issue in PCs, incompatibility with various third party hardware and software.

I wish makers would not try and create cars that are home entertainment and communication hubs.

Surely your concentration should be on the road ahead, especially if you are looking out for all the other drivers who are being distracted by conference calls and catching up on episodes of heroes

I agree with this. It seems like too many people are trying to do too many other things in their cars besides driving and are losing sight (no pun intended) of what they should be doing instead.

agreed.

it would be nice if there was some sort of non-defeatable switch that would only allow the most basic of voice control for gps, music, and maybe bt phone when the car is in motion (at least for the front passengers).

Oh, I didn't realize that word was a swear word. My mistake. And I agree with louishen about the rolling entertainment center. Although GPS is pretty necessary on todays roads. I wish they would use that effort to build better more fuel efficient cars
