This freaked me out this morning (Pakistan)

I usually have the radio on when I sleep, so I often wake up to NPR. Well, today's news held quite a shock.

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated earlier today.

I literally froze. I could not believe what I was hearing.

The situation in Pakistan is just going crazy. I can not believe what is happening over there.

I am still shocked...I don't even know what to say

Doesn't surprise me that much. The last time someone tried a bunch of folks in the crowd got it when the bomb went off. As it is 20 other folks died with her this time.

like baggss, doesn't surprise me much either. when you rub shoulder's like she did, it can never end well. shocking, yes. surprising, no.

I just wish all this killing would stop, and we can finally get out of this war.

This happened in Pakistan, not Iraq...just in case you weren't aware.

I am very aware. The conflicts in the middle east aren't helping anything.

I don't think they've really ever been "stable" or "sane". They just really really really want to kill each other over there. I know it sounds heartless, but I say let 'em. That's the only way it will stop, it seems. They're obviously not smart enough to do it any other way.

I covered this story today. We interviewed Jesse Jackson at his HQ in Chicago. Supposedly he had a upcoming scheduled meeting with her.

It's sad - she was an amazing woman.

And that is your opinion - as ignorant as it was. We all (or some of us) know what opinions are like.

Unfortunately for you, I've actually experienced who and what she is. I have parents from Pakistan, I've BEEN to Pakistan, and I got to hear all about the country from a variety of people as I was growing up. So excuse me when I tell you that my opinion is worth a bit more than yours at the moment.

.....and this thread starts it's slow and painful slide towards being closed simply because some folks can't help but criticize anything they disagree with. Name calling and insulting are not the way to go here people....

I thought that was a requirement for every political thread we had here ;P
