I think I have decided to go with the plain gold machine. One must not, with diamonds, garner gratuitously the animus of the little people, must one?
PowerMax, an Apple Authorized Reseller (and, disclaimer, MacDailyNews and iPodDailyNews advertiser) is selling 24 Karat Gold MacBook Pro models with out without diamonds:
I'm quite sure, however, that Emily Post would cast an eye of quiet approval upon the lid being ringed with dingle balls rather than precious gems, making it less likely a cup of très chaud café au laut would be dumped upon one's head at even the most exclusive of Starbucks establishments — those that receive the custom of only the most important people.

However, I am, as yet, undecided.

And right you are. I would personally only shell out my dough for rubies instead of diamonds. Diamonds look tacky with gold, it's so passé... O:)

I'm going to start saving immediately. I'll have to find a proper show case so I can seal it up and display it on my mantle. Turn it on? Not on your life!

Looks cool... but pointless. It would get even hotter than the current MBP =P

It'd be much hotter - Gold conducts heat much more than aluminium... you'd fry yourself with this thing =P Not to mention the weight...

Well then your MacBook Pro could also be used as a frying pan to make wonderful omelettes. Sounds like a winner to me. ;D

Wouldn't the gold conduct the heat away from the interior of the computer and allow it to disperse it better, therefore having a cooler running computer even though it would feel hotter?
