• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Are you sure you even need drivers?
Hook up a dv out to firewire in cable and see what happens when you try to import to imovie

Agreed. The best way may indeed be to just jump in and start messing around with the gizmos. I didn't have much use for iMovie 06 on my macbook, but when I got the new iMac with iMovie 08 I intended it to be used with digitizing my VHS tapes.

I bought Eye TV hybrid to do the job, and it's worked fantastically so far. now the only problem is running out of memory when manipulating 2GB and up files!! I can see way the professionals use MacPros with 16GB memory set with dual video cards! the raw uncompressed footage takes up crazy amounts of space!

If the camera has a firewire (iLink) connection, they you shold just need the appropriate cable. Since you didn't state the camera model the responses can only be limited.
