Hey guys, I'm planning on upgrading to a new laptop. My old one, Dell Inspiron 5150, crapped out earlier this year. I started toying with the idea of getting a MAC. This would be my first Mac, just to mention, I tried it out in the store and really liked it and planned on taking it with me this time around to college, instead like I previously lugged my desktop. I have planned on getting the new 15.4" MBP 2.2Ghz model, but *might* get the 2.4 one

So I started searching around for a good deal and this is what I found so far:

Apple Education Discount (2.2) $ 1906.94
Apple Education Discount (2.4) $ 2436.94

Amazon.com (2.2) $ 1819.00
Amazon.com (2.4) $ 2305.79

MacMall.com (2.2) $ 1844.00
MacMall.com (2.4) $ 2344.00

ecom electronics (2.2) $ 1799.95
ecom electronics (2.2) $ 2199.95

Apple Developer Connection for Students Discount (2.2) $ 104.94 (ADC account) + 1694.94 (2.2) = 1799.88
Apple Developer Connection for Students Discount (2.4) $ 104.94 (ADC account) + 2118.94 (2.4) = 2223.88

Finally found this and not sure if it's legit...probably not:

Beterati (2.2): http://beterati.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_7_24&products_id=6441 $ 1533.00

Beterati (2.4): http://beterati.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_7_24&products_id=6442 $ 2027.00

I guess there's also eBay, but it seems like people end up paying, for 2.2 Ghz, the same as the amazon.com price or save maybe at most 50 bucks. I would rather pay a little more and deal with a legit business, than have to deal with any problems…but would like to find the best deal as well. Help me out. So I guess I asking 2.2 vs 2.4 Ghz and I know there’s difference’s in v-card ram and such and looking for the best deal?

Apples refurb is probably going to be your best bet...and your guaranteed to get a machine that apple will stand behind. Ive heard of a few instances where apple refused warranty support from computers bought from 3rd party internet dealers.

So I guess my question is did you get a refurb, and if there so much cheaper, why isn't everyone getting them if they come with the same warrenty?

2.20: 1699
2.33: 1899
2.40: 2199

Also note: the prices I listed include shipping or shipping + tax (CT 6%)

So Apple refurb:

2.20: $ 1,800.94
2.40: $ 2,330.94

so not worth it when I can get it cheaper new, ADC, or thru online vendor.

I did not get my Mac as a refurb although my next one will be. I have purchased two refurb products from apple and have not had a problem with either of them.

just a note on your note, any purchases over $50 from the apple store qualify for free shipping so the additional money is all for tax.

Yea I know, I'm taking about ALL the prices I listed, include: shipping and tax...if any.

With that said my new list (includes shipping and tax to CT...if any):

Apple Developer Connection for Students Discount (2.2) $ 104.94 (ADC account) + 1694.94 (2.2) = 1799.88
Apple Developer Connection for Students Discount (2.4) $ 104.94 (ADC account) + 2118.94 (2.4) = 2223.88

Apple Refurb (2.2) = $ 1,800.94
Apple Refurb (2.4) = $ 2,330.94

Apple Education Discount (2.2) $ 1906.94
Apple Education Discount (2.4) $ 2436.94

Amazon.com (2.2) $ 1819.00
Amazon.com (2.4) $ 2305.79

MacMall.com (2.2) $ 1844.00
MacMall.com (2.4) $ 2344.00

ecom electronics (2.2) $ 1799.95
ecom electronics (2.2) $ 2199.95

Anyone else...you guys just pony up the money @ the apple store, how about eBay and experiences there?
