MACbook for electronics engineer

hi.. im an electronics engineer.. presently im using a normal windows-xp desktop system.. im planning to buy a MACbook.. i have some doubts.. Can i run softwares like MATLAB, C compiler, Network Simulator 2.0 and other technical softwares on a MACbook?

Im a sound engineer currently studying electronic engineering. You can run matlab, spice etc etc... Just do a search on google and add +osx to see if you get osx versions. For the apps that are not supported on osx, i start XP in parallels.

You really get the best of both worlds.
