Seagate Freeagent

I ordered the Seagate freeagent since it was on sale. I plugged it in and realized it was read-only. So...I guess I have to reformat it but what format can I put it in so that I can read & write on both mac and pc.

My options in disk Utility are:

MacOSExtended
MS-Dos File System
Unix File System
& free space

If none of these will do both then is there a third party app that can?

Or should I return this drive?

specs:
Seagate Freeagent (usb only)
MBP running 10.4.10

I formatted 2 volumes. 1 as "mac os extended" and the other as "ms-dos file system" I'm just going to assume that the read/write will function correctly on both. Let me know if I am going into any limitations or problems.

ms-dos file system is what I formatted mine as and it works on both

If you want to use it on both OS X and Windows, stick with MS-DOS (aka FAT32). But if you plan on only using it for OS X, then HFS+ is the way to go (I believe that is what MacOSExtended is referring to)

Thanks kash. I was hoping I did it right. I did leave part of it solely for HFS+ for my imovie files and etc cause someone told me that the fat32 would have a 4gb per file upload limit.
