Hello, I am wifi illiterate and outdated at that. I just installed an original airport card into my G4, I believe it is in there correctly (the small cable is connected). I am temporarily borrowing my neighbor's wifi (withn their permission). My sister's PC laptop picks up a connection instantly, but I do not see where my mac is picking up any connection. There is not a network to choose from. Do I have to pick up a connection from an airport base?

Please help,

If the card is insalled correctly it will show up in Network Preferences as an available network interface.

If it's there you're be able to check the show airport status in menubar option. This will show available networks via a drop down.
