I believe this is a Golden Eagle. I spent 30 min taking pictures of it flying at a distance and unbelievably it landed on a tree no more than 5 feet in front of me. I snapped about 20 pics while it moved into different positions. It was almost like it was modeling for a photo shoot lol.

I was fluffing around the house this afternoon, not really thinking I guess, and fumbled a large piece of plastic I was carrying that had a hook tied in it. My hand slipped along and into the hook, I thought it was a splinter when I first felt the pain, but to my horror it was a small fish hook. So I took a few photos and waited an hour for a friend to come home and help with removal.

http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/2062/hookinhand1ra2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

** removed due to size**

After much pain and working of the hook, we managed to get the barb to pop out, then used a high speed dremel tool with a cutting wheel to grind off the barb. After that the hook came back out the way it went in, easy.

It's a Canon Digital Rebel XT (EOS 350D) and the shot was taken with a EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=150&modelid=11922), not an L series lens by any means (if I could afford one, I'd have it already ;) ) but it takes ok pictures. :)

Just got back from a lovely holiday in Zakynthos, Greece yesterday and here's a picture I took of the Alp's over the top of Italy on my way home.

I will post more pics in a separate thread once I have sorted the good ones from the not so good ones lol

This is an older photo of mine I took 2 years ago. I lost the negatives and I think this is the only version I have left at this size. Sadly, it's one of my most favorite photos.
I shot it with my Diana and Kodak 400UC 120 film. Scanned in with a Imacon drum scanner and retouched for exposure only.

Surely your car would be revving a lot more than 4000 when doing that speed?

Hmmmmm!

bryphotoguy

Agreed. My car is regulated to top out at 108 and I am at about 4000RPM in 5th gear. I think I nearly redline in 4th.

btw, that's a little crazy to be taking your hand(s) off the wheel to be taking a picture while doing 140MPH.

It was only one hand, took it with my cell phone. Like I said it was a closed road, the police were present. It was confirmed on radar also, didn't get a pic of the radar gun before they cleared it though.

Expand on your car a bit for us.

And how you got your self into this situation

Expand on your car a bit for us.

And how you got your self into this situation

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
Cartuning Performance 3.8L Turbo Kit
Aftermarket exhaust and headers
Air to Air intercooler
custom programmed PCM
various other small upgrades (wheels, tires, suspension, brakes, coil packs, plugs, and plug wires)

The car will actually go faster but as you can see in the photo I was running out of straight road. It makes so much power that I have to be careful not to break an axle. A new transaxle is next on the upgrade list. This was my wifes car when it was stock but I bought her a new VW Passat for her birthday last year and I took this as my project car.

A couple of us just wanted to really push our cars to the limit so we closed down a unused dead end road that is mostly straight. Police were at the entrance to make sure no one else came down the road and others were set up with radar to confirm top speed. Next time we may do it on the air field if we can get permission.

I have used Olympus cameras prior to this Canon but I was disappointed with the last Olympus I had, especially with the pics I took when I went to Japan. I had red many good reviews at the G7 and picked mine up at a good price!
