Where is the CD key

I want to reinstall tiger but first I was wondering where I can find the cd key?

however some restore disks are model specific
so yo cant use a imac disk on a macbook

Sure, if they are dishonest enough to want to do so.

Personally I always buy the family pack which allows me to legally install on all my machines. Still costs less that half a single install of the full version of Vista!

Well, if your disc is the one that came with your, say, Intel iMac, then no. Those disks are machine specific. If you go out and buy a copy of OSX over the Counter, then yes.

Well, if your disc is the one that came with your, say, Intel iMac, then no. Those disks are machine specific.

They are hardware specific so you would have to install it on multiple machines with the same hardware. i.e a set of iBook disks will probably only work on an iBook (and maybe on a G4 Mini).

I have so many Macs that occasionally I mix up the disks, IIRC Intel install disks only contain Intel code so can't be installed on a PPC so new iMac disks can't be used on older iMacs etc.
