Hello,

So i should be getting a new mac soon! yay!
Im either getting a dual 500 for $199 plus shipping or a dual 533 for $220 plus shipping.
The specs are the same (256mb ram, 20gig, panther blah blah blah) only dif. is the price and speed.
So is it worth the extra money for the better one?
I dont see why it would be considering i think the dual 533 are like digital audio which only has 3 ram slots.

WHat should i do?

Also,

Should i take the ram (768mb) out of my iMac and put in the powermac? it will cripple the value of my iMac, but i wouldnt have to buy more as i got a good deal on the 512 stick ($24 off ebay).
But maybe ill just take the ram out and stick like 128in it (all i have extra) and sell it for like 75 bucks or something idk........

Thanks,

Tanner.

OH PS.

The PowerMacs dont have modems in it, and i need one cuz i dont have high speed (too far away) i see the modems on ebay for cheap, but are they hard to put in?

The Dual 500 is a Gigabit Ethernet. 100Mhz Bus, AGP 2x. The Digital Audio 533 has a 133Mhz Bus and AGP 4x Slot. Much better machine. I have both here and stock the DA is better in every benchmark, but if you later Mod the machine with a faster CPU, the faster Bus will make an even larger difference. The DA will take 3x 512Meg PC133 sticks of RAM. 1.5GB ram is more than enough and the faster bus will help you down the road.

I tried to upgrade my 500Mhz machine. The slower Bus and slower AGP held it back. I put the upgrades in my DA and it was noticeably faster.

What iMac are we talking about? What model?

Thanks, ill go with the 533.

Oh, and its an iMac g3 700.

Ok that uses PC100 RAM so the memory will not work in a Digital Audio. Has to be 133 Mhz PC133.

You can put PC133 in the iMac, just not use the iMacs RAM in the DA. The DA needs PC133.
