Strange airport problem

when I choose what to connect to, it connects then its gone...then its back...then gone...and it keeps doing that forever. could someone tell me how to fix this?

What network are you trying to connect to? Your own home network? What router are you using if that is the case? Are you using any encryption at all like WEP, WPA?

What Mac are you using?

Switch from WEP to WPA security if your router supports it (anything made in the last 4 years should). See the Wireless Networking FAQ in my signature, it should address your issues if you follow it closely.
