24" iMac 2.4 Ghz 4GB RAM 320GB HD, 15" Macbook Pro 2.53 Ghz 4GB RAM 320 GB HDD
I keep finding reviews that the LaCie Ethernet Mini 500GB HD is considerably slow through the Airport Extrerme at transfering a 5GB folder, something like 20 minutes.

Now, my question is this speed normal amongst other NAS Drives or if I connect a High Speed USB Hard Drive to the Extreme will that end up transfering more productively?

hrm cant answer that exact combination but this might help.

i transfered 52Gb of music vis our network at work from a desktop machine, via a server to a maxtor NAS. all up it took bout 4 hours.
i will confirm tomorrow if its a gigabit network but even still 1gb in 45minutes does seem very slow.
