Hi there,
I've been messing around with Ableton Live recently, you can download a demo here, http://www.ableton.com/downloads, it's pretty fantastic, and then there's Reason & Recycle by Propeller Heads, but I haven't really used that. I know it's big in the Drum & Bass world though.

Reason is quality for writing drum tracks. There's so much you can do with it and Reason 4 looks like its going to seriously raise the bar. It's very easy to use - not fiddly like other sequencer packages and it's gorgeous to look at so your eyes dont get bored either! Try downloading the demo and see what you think http://www.propellerheads.se/

I used FL until I switch to mac, now i have Ableton Live and im very happy with it, i find it better than FL, it have a muche better interface/mode for live performace, i take me like a month to get used to it, but it worth it.
