Well I just got back from South Africa today (I'm a little jet-lagged after 24 straight hours of flying) and I thought I'd post one from the trip

The cub is a member of the Chalala (sp?) pride that lives in Sabi Sands outside of Kruger National Park.

I took the picture with a Nikon D80, a 70-200 2.8 & a 1.7 tele-converter

Here is the picture...I'm not sure if this link will work (http://homepage.mac.com/besserfamily/.Pictures/Africa%202/AFRICA%20BOOK%20-%20132.jpg)

my d40 came cheap with the current 'money back' offer because i was going to get an Lumix LX2 as the sorce for my RAW files and my exploration of Photoshop Elements.

http://joyseeker.smugmug.com/photos/171139661-M.jpg

even though its more bulk then i'm used to i do like the d40 but its too good in a way..... i have to go some to find something i have to correct from nikon metering and compression. the first is nikon and the second is me..... tell me i'm better hehe.

(ps: its only a real pub when the toilets are outside..... far right out buildings.)

I need to make an appology here... That pic is not mine. I have one similar to it that I took of my cat and did some simple iPhoto work to it, but I guess I got mixed up or wasn't paying attention when I was uploading.

Sorry everyone.

It was shot on my new Canon EOS 30D, 1/40th, F/5.6, in RAW. Processed lightly through Lightroom. IMO it looks alot better huge, like on my desktop! ;D

Great picture heavyweight!

I'm tempted to go with the tizzy 1 now rather than save up for the tz3... Any thoughts?

heavyweight
07-12-2007, 04:24 PM
The main difference between the TZ1 and the TZ3 looks to be that the TZ3 has a wide angle lens which is probably a bit better in other areas also as well as the higher resolution....

I love my TZ1 and for right now I think you should just get the TZ1 since the features are relatively close and it is easy to find great prices.

I am really not an expert in the area and am just learning myself so my advice isn't worth too much. But I hope it helps some.

Yup, its a hard country to beat, hard to earn good money, but when you take a look around and realise where you are and what you can do its a fair trade.

Waihi Beach is at the bottom of the Coromandel on the East Coast, a small town of 1500 people, with a 9km beach.

my photo contrib of the month is the elephants from Pinawela Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka.

This photo was taken with my trusty Casio Exilim 10 megapixel

I really love elephants and was in my elemant at the orphanage.
Here in this picture, all the ellies were led down to a HUGE mass of water. it was more of a lake.. and they wallowed and drank and played in it.And baby ones stayed very close to their mothers and some of the older ones rolled around in the mud to cool off.
It was a sight like no other ive ever seen - it was a very moving to see all the cheeky elephants having a nice time.
