alt-tab in games

Nether alt-tab, nor mouse side buttons seem to work when I'm playing a game on full screen (I'm testing on world of warcraft). Is there a shortcut to switch programs that works in games?

What do I know from games, but shouldn't alt-tab be cmd-tab?

command + m will minimize your current window... if you want to switch between applications it's command + tab

In games like Call for Duty 2 also? I know it does for regular os x applications, but in games it doesn't seem like there is any way of doing it.. Ill have to test this some more myself.
