imac G5 10.3.9 not recognizing camera

My Pentax Optio 750z's battery died while transferring large files to my G5 and since then the computer won't recognize the camera.

I've tried the disk utility option and have removed all peripherals, still nothing.
All USB ports work with other peripherals.

The System Profiler runs in circles when set to the USB option in the side bar.
Image Capture doesn't notice any device connected.

Perhaps it is the USB cable??? or something else
Will rebooting the entire system from the start up disk do anything for this issue?

Maybe you need to reformat the card in the camera?
