macbook MAC address problems

i was just looking through my netgear wireless router... and i noticed under attached devices that my MAC address for my macbook pro was different than the physical address of the wireless NIC on my macbook.. is this normal? is this some kind of safety precaution from hackers? or should my MAC be the same on the router as whats on my computer?
