If you're irked at this, consider it's the same reason 400,000 Windows viruses can't run in Macs.
That's why it exists — to open WMA files. MS droped WM support for Macs, and links to it from its site. You can get it at versiontracker.com or macupdate.com.. . . is there any media player for mac that can open WMA files? Flip4Mac isn't compatible yet as far as I know.
flip4mac has been able to play any wma files i have tried since i got my mac.
for other audio/video file types get VLC
