The Akai MPD 24 is a new-ish drum pad MIDI controller. It doesn't sample or hold any sounds itself but you can hook it up to your Mac to trigger sounds on something like Reason or Ableton. It also has faders and knobs which you can assign to parameters in your software to control in real time like volume or filter cut-off for example.

£150...not a bad price either

Holy cr@p! That Alesis trigger could be the answer to my prayers! I'm using a Roland TD-3 brain w/ PD7 pads and a whole host of MIDI-USB cabling nonsense at the moment...

SWEET!
