I just have a halogen lamp shining down on the smoke from an incense (don't know if you would get all the colors from another source), I snapped that with a 60mm macro lens on a Nikon D70. The shot really wasn't planned at all, just pointed and pushed the shutter button.

ok thanks alot
i saw it in a magazine but they did it with strobes and i was wondering if it could be done with a regular lamp
guess so

Oh wow! I would love to go there! What a gorgeous shot! The colours and the scenery is beautiful!

As for the size of images, I think the max would be 800X600 pixels (it's usually the case in most forums I've been to anyway - any bigger and it breaks the page layout and you have to scroll all over the place, yuck!). It might be best to ask one of the staff?

Like the thread rules say, post an image here 800 X 600 pixels. But you may of course provide an external link to a larger version of the image (the URL between the IMG tags).

I like them allot actually. I like them on girls most, allot of guy's just cant pull them off, I've seen a couple males pull it off but it's pretty difficult, I currently have snake bites. I had 1 for a while, on the left side, I decided to get the other side done in November after having the other side for about 5 years. I'm so glad I did, it looks a whole world better than 1 off center labret. Now I'm rambling.

Well, I don't really have anything to show this month yet... and I don't really think I'll get round to taking many pictures - so this snapshot taken whilst I was waiting for the train will be my submission.

I converted it to greyscale, cropped it and adjusted the contrast a bit in PS... the blur is all me though :)

I don't know - to me it gives it an air of mystery. Like it gives the car a personality - aloof. Like it is keeping a part of itself secret, hidden.

Are you allowed or willing to give away your secrets as to how the process went?
It is very interesting to look at. Good work.

hehe :) its no secret! well firstly i flipped/mirrored the image, then i blended it in, after that i had to fix the bottom of the photo, as the wall went into an angle, so had to straighten it up. After that went the little details like the letters and such, which were i think the hardest thing of all. First i tried blending each letter by one but it didnt work well, so had to cut out windows from another part of the image and then blend them in... get the toning right >_<. The cranes were taken out with patch tool (which is like the best tool ever :D ) and some clone stamp. I had only around 3 hours of exam time, so the image isnt as good as i would like it to be...

Love the picture, johntalin.

Here's a little something I grabbed a week ago or so. No touch-ups, but I like it. (Was my desktop for a while.)

Why does your photo resizes the browser?

hehe :) its no secret! well firstly i flipped/mirrored the image, then i blended it in, after that i had to fix the bottom of the photo, as the wall went into an angle, so had to straighten it up. I had only around 3 hours of exam time, so the image isnt as good as i would like it to be...:)

Unless I missed it somewhere, what prog. did you use?
Sounds like Photoshop?

Camera: Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D)
Lens: Canon 18-55mm
Shutter Speed: 20/1 Second
F Number: 18
Focal Length: 34mm
ISO: 200

I got a new flashlight today and figured I'd try something crazy and so I set the camera up for a 20 second exposure with the flash and after the initial flash shot I moved into 2 different spots with the flashlight to generate the other images. I normally only shoot landscapes and outdoors, but I'm happy with how this turned out.

Well its been a month since I got my camera (Canon 350D) and three weeks ago my gorgeous cat had three kittens so I couldn't resist snapping away....! This is Ellie at a couple of days old.

Not the best photo i've taken this month I don't think but AWWWWW...!

If it makes somebody smile I'll be happy. The kittens are now triple the size and have their eyes open!

There's a city in there?? You shouldn't post that. In the U.S. there's a large misconception that Canadian cities are exceptionally clean and smog-free.

Funny stuff. I honestly don't think most of those people really believe what they were saying, but maybe a few. If you think that's sad, you should see some of Jay Leno's "jay-walking" where people can't answer simple questions about U.S. political leaders and capitals.

The funniest part was the kid who finally pointed out that Canada has provinces. Good to know the U.S. education system isn't completely failing. ;)

He actually did not fall on that snap turn but when he tried to pull into the barrel he got hammered pretty bad. I surf this reef all the time and its full of pro surfers so its not really that big of a surprise to see a guy land a snap like that. :)

It can be quite scenic (which might be why it is called the scenic city) but I like Knoxville tons better. Chattanooga is a very backwards town, cool sometimes but backwards.
