I have tried researching for a couple of days now and have come up with conflicting information.

I am looking to play pc games on mac and gather that parrallels doesnt support 3d yet and that the other solutions are poor so i have settled on boot camp.

I was going to buy an oem version of xp to fine vista is not much more and remembered that dx10 will be the only way to run certain games later.

Does boot camp support vista, if so do games run at a normal pace or is there any slow down.

I have a 24" intel imac with 1gb ram if it helps.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thats what confused me because I read elsewhere that vista runs perfectly well on boot camp appart from a couple of minor driver errors for things like isight and I heard that the later version of boot camp coming with leopard would support it.

Yes, Bootcamp will officially support Vista eventually, but it does not at this time.

So with boot camp unofficialy being able to run vista atm with quite a similar install to xp according to:

http://vistaonmac.pbwiki.com/

is there no reason not to get vista or is it inadvisable to risk an unsupported install?

The Tech Sites I visit daily have run side by side benchmarks using real applications and games and same systems running XP and Vista. Vista lost every benchmark. Slower. I would stick with XP for now for any gaming till that gets sorted out.

Ah thanks very much, glad I found out sooner rather than later.

It already can. Apple just release 1.2 the other day that supports it.
