Audio recording

I need to record a lecture tomorrow and I figured I'd just use the built in mic on my macbook, but what free recording software should I use? And is the built in mic even powerful enough to pick up a lecture/presentation? Gracias

it may not be able to pick up the lecture, it depends on how far away the speaker is. You should be able to use Garageband to record it.
