Vista under Parallels violates the Microsoft EULA

There have been a number of reports on the internet about all sorts of terrible things you agree to when accepting the Vista EULA, but it isn’t really that bad.

There are however a couple of things that you might want to know. It’s true that Vista Home and Home Premium cannot be installed in virtual machines. Straight from the boys at Redmond, the specific text reads:

Vista EULA said:
USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES.
You may not use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.

Yeah, they want you to purchase the Business or Ultimate editions for virtualisation..

Since they can't sell us Virtual PC AND Windows XP any more, they have to recoup their losses somehow. So why not artificially inflate the OS price for mac users?

DVDs also say it's a violation to lend them to a friend.

Lending a DVD and installing Vista on Parallels are at about the same level of sin that will tarnish your soul IMO.
