How often do you shutdown your Mac?

Welcome to Mac-Forums, jeffd.

I shut it down every night and in the daytime when I'm not around. It's for economical (I can't afford a BackUPS unit with graceful shutdown and it's to save on the electricity bill as well) and ecological reasons I do this.

I run the maintenance tasks manually using MainMenu every day.

I never shut down my iMac. I only restart if an update deems it necessary. Sometimes I sleep it at night, but not usually.

As for my iBook, I just close the lid and let it sleep. It's currently been on for 31 days.

I only restart/shut down on necessary updates.

The uptime on my PowerMac is something around 25 days...

I leave it up all the time. Only gets shutdown for updates, and when I bring it home, or back to school.

I sleep mine at night, or when it's going to be unused for a few hours. Other than that I'll reboot only when updating OS X, or in the rare cases when that spinning ball won't disappear.

Pretty much just shut down my Mac whenever I know I won't be using it for a while, such as if I'm going away for the weekend or something like that.

I only restart my Mac if it needs it or if an update requires it. I only turn it off if I am going to be out of town for more that 5 consecutive days.

When I feel my poor iMac needs rest. I used to maintain a policy of keeping it off at night, but alas, I have stuff running at night nowadays and the processor won't die because of those hours of more work it does (touchwood).

Mine never goes down unless there is an update that needs a restart to install or my USB hub feels like kernal panicing it.

I've gone from only turning my iMac off if it was necessary to turning it off on a daily basis. I run maintainance tasks weekly.

I voted never.. I do, however, restart my Mac's when certain system updates require it. Both my Mac's are set to sleep after 30 minutes of innactivety.

I only ever shut down my MBP when I have to on updates.

The iMac gets shut down every time I finish using it as I can't put it to sleep. If I do then it won't spin up the external HDD on waking up.

I shut down my PowerBook G4 every night and put it on when I get up.

If I am out I'll turn it off, or if I will be away from it for a long time then I'll put it to sleep (unless I'm downloading/encoding etc).

since i work 12 hour days half the week, i usually leave it on or sleeping when i'm off work, and then shut it down the end of my last day off. i might turn it on once or twice on the days i do work, but only for the few minutes that i need it for something.
