Ok we have a friend who is staying with us for a month and he has a PC, he just bought a NetGear wireless card to connect to our Airport Wireless network, but for some reason it connects, then after a short period of time it disconnects and won't connect again.

Does anybody have any ideas, I can't figure it out.. Im not a PC user, used to be long time ago.. so I know a decent amount, but this is really ticking me off :( Any help would be much appreciated!

I know my wife's mom was having the same problem, and it ended up being drivers fighting over control over the connection.. so I don't know if that helps you help me :)

Murlyn,

I found this:

Many third-party wireless access points use a WEP key or a password entered either as a string of hexadecimal numbers or as five ASCII characters.

To connect Mac OS X to a third-party wireless access point that is configured to use WEP, format your password one of these two ways:
1. Hexadecimal - precede the string with a dollar sign ($). For example: $123456789a
2. ASCII - enclose the characters in double quotes ("). For example: "magic"

I'm still looking...

this is a dumb question, but do you have a 2.4 ghz cordless phone? as far as i know they broadcast signal at the same frequency as wireless internet signals and can interfere with eachother

Well Pulse it doesn't look like it works.. I noticed your post says to connect OS X to a 3rd party wireless access point. When what I need to do is to connect a PC to an Apple Extreme base station wirelessly. Any other ideas? Thanks so far!
