IPhoto Import Problem

Hi, I'm hoping someone will take a moment to suggest a simple solution to this problem.

I unplugged my Canon PowerShot SD300 while they were importing. Now whenever I open IPhoto it acts like the camera is plugged in, tells me I have photos to import, and when I say ok, it says the files are unreadable and can't be imported, and it lists them--they look like they are in an IPhoto temp file. This happens whether or not the camera is plugged in.

Any ideas are appreciated... tia

Go to iPhoto Help and type Rebuild Library. Read the directions to do this as this is sometimes needed to solve problems.

Also go to Your User Acct>Library>com.apple.iPhoto.plist and delete this plist while iPhoto is closed.

Hi Pulse-8

Thanks for the suggestions.

When I look in help for how to rebuild the library nothing with that title comes up.

I followed your second suggestion but I'm still having the same issue.

Any other ideas, anyone?

Thanks again,

Hold down the option (or alt) and command (or apple) keys and click the iPhoto icon in your dock.

A new screen should pop up with some options.

Try to see if one of those can fix your issues.

WARNING: I'd strongly recommend you back up your library first before you try different things.

Just create a copy of the 'iPhoto library' folder in 'Home->Pictures' and put it somewhere safe, like on your desktop.

Are you using the latest verison of iPhoto? (version 6.0.5)

Make sure you keep holding down both the option and command keys for some time until the dialogue box pops up.

So hold keys, click+keep holding, keep holding until box appears.

oh gosh. lol. it's version 5.0.4 I'm behind the times apparently. I'm going to look at updating it. Maybe that will fix my other problem too.

In that case I would consider waiting a bit.

To update to version 6 you would need to buy iLife '06.
But iLife '07 will probably be released the first week of January at Macworld, so I'd wait for that if you don't already own '06.
