This is just a really simple question (I think) but I'm really curious.

I have the wireless mouse and keyboard and batteries are pretty expensive (especially for a college student). When are the mouse/keyboard draining power? Is it when they are turned on, when the computer is on/in sleep? I'm really wondering about this because I don't want to waste precious battery power.

Thanks a bunch ya'll

Well, I considered that. But I've got a really small desk as it is and having the wireless set seemed like a pretty good idea at the time.

both of them sleep when they haven't been used for a period of time. the keyboard batteries last much longer than the mouse batteries (i think i am over a year with daily use of on my keyboard right now). Mouse lasts a couple of months usually
