Ok since we don't have a networking forum (hint, hint <g>), I thought I'd just post here that my Airport card and base have arrived and I'm typing this wirelessly :)

What type of speeds/signal are you getting from it? Is there a tool to inform you about this? Any screen shots of the airport admin panel? :)

Well speed I can't really tell, but I don't notice any difference between Airport and being directly connected to my LAN. Signal strength is awesome. There is a utility with Airport you can use to to see signal strength or there's many differnt Konfabulator widgets that will do that for you also. I'll post some screen shots of some stuff, but let me switch to IE so I can ;)

Yep, I switched the base I ordered and got the one with a LAN out port. So my Dell is connected via LAN and of course my iBook via wireless. It's truly awesome and it was VERY easy to setup and configure. But I would expect nothing less of Apple!

What would be really cool is that if the weather outside was nice, I could be sitting outside right now surfing on the iBook. Yes, Airport is definitely a must. For a good deal check out http://www.smalldog.com . They've got awesome customer service and great prices. They sell Apple refurbed regular airport base stations (that's what I got) and a good price.

Besides, for an iBook, why pay more for an Airport Extreme Base that you'll never use.
