I am thinking of buying a macbook pro and understand that there are "refreshed" units which are sold at month's end during a fire sale which are actually cheaper than a refurbished unit.

Just wondering if it is possible to get one of these PRIOR to month's end or do I have to wait and try my luck with inventory like everyone else?

Thanks

I think I read somewhere that if you work at an Apple store you are not allowed to post on Apple related forums. Not sure but I think that I may have heard that somewhere.

Yea its part of their massive NDA that they have to sign.

I'm pretty sure you can go in at any time and ask if they have refurb'ed units, or you can buy them online

Yes, they sell "refreshed" units at the Apple store anytime when there's a good quantity of them. Last week the store had 2 MBP's and 3 white MB's (1 1.83, 2 2.0) for sale on a cart. Along with a DVI to ADC adapter for $49 and some softwares.

So if I go and get a job at the apple store, I am no longer allowed to post here?

I wonder how they would know? I would be very paranoid that I was being watched all of a sudden :black: Don't know if I could live without the M-Fs! :mac: Just kidding of course...

Yeah, I want to work there, but when I am bored at home, or when I am procrastinating doing homework, I come here.

I have an ex that works at one. She is allowed to post on Mac-based forums, but she is not permitted to post anything:
about her job, Apple as a company, sales, any "insider" information (not like they get any from working at an Apple Store anyway) or basically any work-related or company-related news.
