well if it works, i know the shot is your typical touristy thing but I dont know I kind of like it. I shot it with my Nikon d200 and a nikkor 12-24. The lighting is pretty blah in the photo but I do like the composition. Let me know what you think! This was taken in Jackson, Wyoming. The mountain is Mt. Moran, in the teton range. This area is actually about 50 miles north of the town. I still can't believe I live only 3 hours from this beauty! Gotta love Bozeman, MT!!

yeah, DOF can sometimes give some strange appearances with parallel lines and grids.

Nice powerbook photo. Looks like a stock photo (I don't know if that sounds bad to people, but I mean it in a nice way - since stock photos are mostly taken by professionals)

I took some today, that I would like to post. How do I post them into the reply?

There are two ways I know, the first is to use the "manage attachments" button below the submit reply, in Additional Options, and upload the image from your desktop,

and to have a Flickr or similar account, upload to their server and link it to your reply using the postcard with mountians above the reply box.

Oh, I see you figured it out while I was writing this response....

Sorry for the late response. It's starting to grow on me. It has many elements from "Karma" and it also seems like it left right off from where Chimera left off. However it is definitely NOT as 'poppy' like Chimera was and is more of a move back towards the Ambient-Techno realm which I dig. :D

Try: Right click the image, then select Copy Image Address, then simply paste the image address where ever you are wanting it to be.

Hope that helps.

are you trying to upload images? I just use photobucket, and then you can copy the URL. Additionally, you can use [IMG] tags.

This was from a storm in early October in Chicago

Taken with my D200 and an 18-70 f/3.5

I played around with the coloring a little, I thought the lighting looked cooler this way....if you have any thoughts let me know.

I got a question for the last photo (before mine) jlbrew3
Great colour edit!
Love the shot, but i have a question about how you were able to keep the colour in the light source as well, how did you select the area?
How did you accomplish that effect

Great photo :)

Iím not saying this is how jlbrew3 did it, but in Photoshop you can create a similar effect (if not the same effect) using layer masks.

Simply duplicate the image & desaturate the duplicate. Then add a layer mask to it and using the brush tool simply "paint" the area you wish to be colour.

Hereís a quick example I have just done using an image from the Internet:

I like this effect as it keeps lighting etc. all correct because there is nothing worse than a badly edited picture whre you can see shadow and light that don't match etc. lol

Hope this helps anyways,

Regards.

or an adjustment layer (and edit the mask automatically created). Saves having another layer, as an adjustment layer affects the layer and the adjustment at the same time. You can also snap it to a specific layer (opt+click on the divider line between the layer and adjustment layer in the palette). Adjustment layers are created from a button at the bottom of the layers palette.

Also, for that image, the pen tool would probably be better to make the selection, unless you have a dead-steady hand drawing circles.

Benjamin: nice looking photo! Countryside looks great there :)

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the feedback, I'm glad you like it.

I think you are making the process a little harder than it actually was. All I did was throw a moderate feather on the lasso tool for the light on the ground and then added to the selection without a feather to select the lamp. Basically, feahter for light on the ground, no feather for the lamp. Hope that helps anyone else out there trying to accomplish the same effect. Again, I really appreciate the feedback and I am very excited you like it.

I have a Digital Rebel XT with a circular polarizer lens on a cannon zoom lens. I took the pick last weekend at the Houston Airshow, I was impressed with the pics I took of the USAF Thunderbird jets, considering how fast they were going.
Here is one of 858 pictures I took that weekend.
