Mac to pc network

Before I get my mac I'd like to know if it's possible to create a netowrk between a mac and a pc. The reason being is that When I make the switch I need to transfer ALOT of media to my new mac and I would hate to have to burn a billion dvd's to do so.

Yes, I have done exactly what you are asking. I connect to my PC via Ethernet through my router.

It can be a bit fidly, but there are plenty of websites and even threads on this forum, which cover the topic.

Both PC and Mac have helpfiles which take the user through the steps to setup each computer.
