I bought a "display\open box" emac from a reseller it seems to be the recent 1GHz\40GB\Combo drive model (part number on the box is M9252LZ/A), however it came with OS 10.2.4. Is this the correct OS version or should I have gotten 10.3 (the Combo drive CDRW was not being recognized as a burner by neither iTumes nor the OS unilt I ran the 10.2.8 update)

Since it was an open box it could have been originally sold before Panther came out since they have had 1 ghz emacs for a while now.

They do not update Open Box units for the newest OS

Even though your part # isn't listed as a qualifying Mac, for the Mac OS X Up-To-Date program, I would try to get the 10.3 upgrade.

It isn't like you would be out anything.

Have you asked the reseller about getting the upgrade?

I'm waiting for them to verify the version of the OS, because the funny thing is that I got the "Welcome to Panther" & "Proof of purchase Software coupons MAC OS X v10.3" materials
