Look swish...

Just thinking...there quite a compact, portable size so maybe wouldnt be a bad choice for gigging and they have higher specs than similiarly priced Macbooks....

Hmm....also, when I move in to my girlfriends house, space wouldnt be too much of a problem.
I was going to get a Macbook but Im not so sure now.

Thoughts anyone?

im a tad lost on what you are asking for? are you wanting to know about macbooks or imacs? the title of the thread is imac this and that, but you are talking about macbooks? and you posted in the music, etc thread, so are you planning on doing some podcasting or music production or what? what are you wanting to do with the mac?

Sorry, it came out a bit garbled...

I was just wondering about the practicalities of using an Imac in a live setting (a gig).

Im more or less decided on a Macbook now though. Much more practical methinks...

Yeah, the iMacs aren't that large, but they weigh a ton.

I'd definitely not recommend it for regular gigging.

The Macbook gives you slightly less bang for your buck, but is much more practical.

In the mac store and at home on my iMac
What do you plan on doing with the macbook (or a mac) in a gig?

This could better help me try and help you.

I would say worry about rent and bills for when you move in with the girl.

Try lifting an iMac with one hand, it's impossible. Even if they appear to be just a slab, they are pretty unwieldy, even the 17" one, because of the foot stand. And I am not sure that carrying your iMac around the world is healthy for the system. It's not supposed to be ported around. It's NOT as portable as you think. I know becase I had the same stupid thoughts when I switched.
