Help me!!!

Ok so I've decided that I want to install Boot Camp on my MBP. I read about it on the Apple site but am still a little confused on what I need. I have a copy of Windows XP Home Edition that came with my parents Gateway PC. Im not sure if I can install this disk because on the front of the disk it says something like, "For use on Gateway PC ONLY". Is this true? What else do I need? Thanks a lot.

It came with the PC that your parents PC so its a OEM copy. So it will not work.

You need a copy of Windows Service Pack 2 that you buy.

Do you know how much that costs?

I was able to use the WinXP CD that came with my old Dell on my machine.

But i heard from Apple representative that they don't work.

But i guess iRizzo you should give it a shot at trying the CD that your parents have. Make sure it is Service Pack 2.

If it works you are going to save money.

Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2

Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 2.

Ouch. I might just try it and if not, just not get Boot Camp I guess. Thanks.
