How do you keep yourself as "Available" in messages without moving the mouse or touching the keyboard? It will not stay green no matter what I do.

Welcome to Mac-Forums.

Messages doesn't have the concept of available and away like other instant messaging apps since it isn't really that. It's your SMS (to non Apple devices) or their proprietary format messaging system between Apple devices.

My "Buddies" window shows away or available for me. Green or red. i am trying to get it to stay green all the time unless I shut down.

Can you share a screenshot of what you are seeing, that might clear up my confusion.

Interesting, that isn't the normal Apple Messages app. Can you get the About information for that app?

On a MacBook Pro. That first screen shot is just the buddies window. Messages for the message window I cannot show.

I'm so confuzzled. Running High Sierra on my machine and from what I can remember, I've never seen that side of a sidebar in Messages, also never been able to categorize them or anything. The sidebar just shows whoever sent me a message most recently.
