Eliminating pop ups

Can anyone please give me a program that will eliminate pop ups. Thanks.

I am on a 2016 iMac running OS 10.12.3

Which browser are you using? The following extensions will kill ads, popups and other malware..Ghostery and Adblock Plus. You can replace Ghostery with uBlock Origin if you wish..

I currently disable running Flash on Chrome and have uBlock Origin and Adblock Plus running and have no popups or ads..

I tried several sites to download Adblock Plus but couldn't do it. I keep getting error messages. Do you have an URL that would get me there?
I am using Safari as a browser.

Hi Earle - now, Ashwin has already provided some links for you - another option is to go to the Safari menu (top left next to the Apple) - click on 'Safari Extensions...' which will open the link shown below, i.e. a slew of extensions that can be added to Safari - AdBlock is shown; scroll down for Ghostery; and take a look at the others which might be of interest - Dave
