I have a MBP and a work PC laptop (Lenovo with docking station).

I am curious about a setup where I have 1 monitor, 1 keyboard and 1 mouse to use at home.

I do not need to show both the MPB and PC simultaneously on the screen (although if able that would be cool).

I am wondering if I can just easily switch between the two and the peripherals follow the switch. I.e. can I use the MBP+keyboard+mouse on the monitor, use a e.g. a keyboard shortcut, switch the monitor+keyboard+mouse to the PC?

At the very least, can I just switch the monitor input easily and live with 2 keyboard and 2 mice?

You would use a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch. You'll want to find one that accepts USB for your keyboard and mouse and your chosen video interconnect between your monitor and the MBP and PC (HDMI, DVI, VGA, DisplayPort, etc.).

With this configuration you would click a button (some even have a keyboard shortcut) to switch between the two devices.
