I've noticed this utility has popped up on my iMac , is it good or malware?

The only application we recommend to clean and speed up your Mac is OnyX. All others are generally either "Snake Oil" or pretend to do things that are already done by OS X itself. So to answer you question, avoid the "Advanced Mac Cleaner" and if it's popping up on your screen, then it's also likely to be malware. Download the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program and run it to rid your system of any malware that may be residing on it. Download from here (https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/).

This little 'gem' may have come along as an added 'free' gift from dodgey software distributors. Has it installed on your Mac Crusty? We can get the uninstall for you. As a suggestion do not download anything from CNET, Softonic or MacUpdate to avoid these free 'gems'. It is a very aggressive form of marketing.

Hello - these maintenance 'crapware' apps often install files throughout your system and require much more than just dragging the app's icon to the trash - you likely have 'remnants' left on your drive - take a look at LINK 1 (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7135825?tstart=0) (check post by Linc Davis) and LINK 2 (https://malwarefixes.com/get-rid-of-advanced-mac-cleaner/) - good luck! Dave :)

You will soon know if nything is left behind Crusty. You will get continuous pop-ups promoting the crapware.
