I had downloaded a PDF file and was viewing it when a pop message said my iPad had been hacked and my phone may be also.
Click ok to fix.
I don't remember exactly what it said now!
I was so surprised!!!
I quickly turned power off totally on iPad and iPhone.

Now am back on iPad.
How can I check if this was a valid hack?
How can I fix it?

Am back. Discovered the site I was on was reported as a phishing site and tries to get info from you.

I am usually very cautious with giving out info and hope I did right thing by closing out site
I deleted the web site and the PDFs document put in trash and securely deleted.

Is there anything else I should do?

Mayb delete cookies but not sure how to do that on Mac...

Back again. I logged on my MacBook and found delete cookie option in safari preferences.

If anyone can think of anything else I should check or clean up, please let me know

Thanks

You did the right thing. These "warnings" can be safely ignored. Looks like you're back in control now. Clearing website data is pretty well all you need to do.
