Looking for recommendations, are there mac equivalents of mp3 software that will edit complete albums so that itunes do not split them up into separate songs. It should also do all the normal editing things.

I have just recently got a macbook and i am totally converted away from PC's.

Welcome to the Mac-Forums.

Can you be more specific as to exactly what you want to do with your music? iTunes for the most part can accomplish editing and creating playlists. Also, when you post it would be helpful to mention which Mac you have (year and model) and what version of OS X it's running.

Apart from iTunes, I'm not sure if there is a App that does it all for you, but then again, I don't really understand your question.

By editing, do you mean the Metadata like Album Cover Art, Composer, Lyrics, song writer and the likes ??
There is one App I use from the MAS that converts and 'edits' movies, TV Shows and Music called Smart converter Pro 2 that could do what your saying. It cost $ though, and I don't have a bad thing to say about it.

I f this is what you want, I don't see why iTunes doesn't work for you.

Thanks for the replies. I am new to Mac's (four days :) ) My mac is a Macbook mid 2010 running El Capitan latest version.

Yes it was the metadata i was to edit, i have quite a few songs and want them to stay within their respective album folders. Itunes does not always keep them in their album and will just show them as odd songs in the list. I would also like to equalise the volume of the songs as some come up louder than others.
I have to say i find Itunes an uphill struggle, it took me an age just to find out how to get it to see my songs, it was just a matter of dragging the songs folder to the Itunes icon. Perhaps i should look for an itunes 'how to'.

Its always a battle when you try to learn something new. What you want to do, iTunes can do all that for you.
For a 'How To' go no further than Apple own kb Article https://www.apple.com/au/support/itunes/getstarted/ and to fix those pesky songs by them self, try these links http://www.thxbye.de/mac/things-to-check-when-itunes-is-splitting-up-your-albums.html and http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp << this link is probably best for you.>>

Just to let you know it all works fine, i think it was the middle link that helped me out the most. I have done about six albums and many many more to go, but they will all be right now.
I have spent quite a few years trying to get them in order on a PC and it gave me headaches, this wont be quick but it will be done right so thanks again
