If anyone here is using this version, read this very carefully and remove it. There is Ransomware Malware in this version.

Not at all surprising is it Dennis? A bit of a 'let the buyer beware' in the BitTorrent world.

I posted it as a warning as I do not want to see anyone locked out of their stuff by ransomeware .

It's moments like this that I love open source software. Clean source code could be found if it had been disseminated before being infected. Anyway, it seems as though the development team has addressed this. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

The fact that in this case it had been attached to the an open source project is pretty much irrelevant. What is relevant on the other hand is that this ransomware actually did work on OSX. The same malware could easily be modified and added to other software, more mainstream, to be delivered. In addition, this possibly opens up other ways to deliver malicious payload, not just "built-in" to other programs. And that could be interesting down the road, but time will tell...

Apple apparently is on top of this and has already shut it down.
