Using this guide from LifeHacker (http://lifehacker.com/how-to-run-a-portable-version-of-windows-from-a-usb-dri-1565509124), I created a bootable/runable version of Windows 8.1 to run from a USB drive on my mid-2014 13-inch MacBook Air. Windows is running fine, but I am missing a few crucial drivers, such as the network adapter/network controller drivers. Do you know where I can download these so that I can get internet access on my Windows USB?

Those drivers are available from Apple and can be downloaded during the Boot Camp Assistant setup. What you can do is go through the motions of installing Windows on your MBA using the Boot Camp Assistant which will allow you to download the driver image from Apple. Just don't actually install Windows, but you will have the drivers. Make sure you read through the Boot Camp Assistant setup instructions first.
